FSC certification achieved Headley Brothers Ltd. is delighted to announce that they have been awarded the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification ‘Chain of Custody’ certification. The PEFC certify timber and paper products to ensure they have been sourced from forests which are recognized as sustainable by national certification schemes. Worldwide the PEFC accounts for about 85% of all forests. This certification allows Headleys to use the PEFC logo on products printed on PEFC certified papers at the customers request. Headley Brothers Ltd. Environmental Co-ordinator Sue Gray said: "Gaining both PEFC and FSC certifications further widens the range of options available to a growing number of customers requesting green print and along our well established ISO14001 system is a demonstration of our continuing commitment to good environmental practices and that the company take environmental concerns of our customers and staff seriously."
Since achieving ISO14001 environmental certification we have been inspired to look for even more new ways to reduce our environmental impact. A fantastic example of this is our landfill waste achievement down from 34 skips in 2002 to just 10 in 2006. In real terms that means of the 1985 tonnes of waste we produced in 2007, we recycled 96% (up 2% on the previous year). One of our aims for the future is to minimise landfill waste further still by finding new recycling markets.
